Retirement Affords Phil Second Chance

After a successful career in college bookstore management, Phil and his wife, Wanda, retired to the beautiful Ozarks of Northwest Arkansas.

Following an early interest in art instilled by his father, Phil considered an art major upon entering college but chose music instead; however, he did enroll in as many art courses as time permitted. Retirement gave him the long-awaited opportunity to pursue his first love of art.

Phil works in oil, acrylic, and watercolor and is especially interested in plein air painting. He has studied with several well-known artists including Ron Rencher, John Potoschnik, Jeff Legg, Jean Chambers, and Gwen Long.

His work has been shown and won awards at numerous area exhibitions and competitions. Wright currently holds memberships in Oil Painters of America, Artists of Northwest Arkansas, Plein Air Painters of the Ozarks, and Village Art Club. His work can be seen at Wishing Spring Gallery and Gallery West.

A graduate of Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas, Phil later continued graduate studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, as well as art training at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas.
